Consider the vehicle as an integrated engineering system and apply analysis, measurement, experimentation, and design to improve safety, reliability, and performance.

Methodology
How will theory, observation, measurement, and reflection guide each engineering decision?
I plan to approach each system through a consistent methodology that links theory with hands-on investigation. I’ll begin with Theory to develop an understanding of the system’s purpose, operating principles, and expected performance.
Next, I’ll focus on Characterization & Potential Improvements to examine the system as it actually exists on the car through inspection, measurement, analysis, and comparison with specifications, identifying opportunities to improve safety, reliability, or performance.
Finally, I plan to use an Engineering Notebook to document the decisions, work, testing, results, and lessons learned as improvements are implemented.
Throughout this process, I’ll move iteratively from understanding and modeling to measuring, analyzing, improving, testing, and reflecting—using each result to inform the next engineering decision.

Iterative Engineering Cycle
From understanding to reflection
Each result becomes evidence for the next decision. The sequence is disciplined, but it is not strictly linear; testing and reflection may send the investigation back to an earlier step.
